The art of quoting

As an American libertarian political scientist Charles Murray believes that too many people are going to college that don't necessarily need it. He does describe that school is a good idea overall for people but however he personally believes that some students don't really need it to be successful in life. As he goes about describing why many kids go to college for the wrong reasons "Murray states" that "Guidance counselors and parents who automatically  encourage young people to go to college straight out of high school regardless of their skills and interests are being thoughtless about the best interests of young people in their charge" (paragraph 40). Murray's view is that these kids aren't even given the chance on doing what they want to do. They are forcefully being pushed to go to school just because their elders are telling them to do so.
Murray's thoughts and statements make a lot of sense to me because, I personally have seen this done by many counselors and parents, my girlfriend for an example had gone through this very same situation with her parents. She was forced to go straight into college after she graduated high school without the intentions of really wanting to go. This lead her to loose interests in school only for the fact that she just didn't know what to major in.
